President Donald Trump is reportedly “furious” at Fox News Channel host Kimberly Guilfoyle, who earlier this week told a media outlet she’s in talks with the White House to become the Trump administration’s next press secretary, a position currently held by Sean Spicer. Guilfoyle is current a co-host of Fox News’ “The Five.”
The Blaze reported Tuesday Guilfoyle told the Bay Area News Group she has been in continuous contact with the White House over the possibility of joining the communications team.
“Sean Spicer is a very nice man and a patriot; he’s dedicated himself to this public service,” Guilfoyle said. “I wish him the best, and I know he puts a lot of effort into it.”
“I’m a patriot, and it would be an honor to serve the country,” Guilfoyle added when asked about rumors about her joining the White House. “I think it’d be a fascinating job. It’s a challenging job, and you need someone really determined and focused, a great communicator in there with deep knowledge to be able to handle that position.”
The New York Times reported on May 12 Guilfoyle was being considered by Trump as a possible replacement for Spicer.
The Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard said in a report on Wednesday a White House source told him Trump was “furious” over Guilfoyle’s comments.
“Trump gets angry every time he sees those stories,” the unnamed source said. “He believes that she is using him to better her own situation. He’s furious.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, Guilfoyle said she enjoys her job at Fox News.
“As I stated in the interview, I really love what I do and my job co-hosting The Five is tough to beat,” Guilfoyle said in the statement.
