Oath Keepers will be assisting with security at tomorrow’s free
speech rally in Portland, OR, on June 4. That should come as no
surprise, but I wanted to be sure you knew. And yes, I will be there
in person too.

Event Description:
PATRIOT PRAYER-JOEY GIBSON
Free Speech Rally with BASED STICKMAN, BASED SPARTAN, PATRIOT GIRL,
WARRIORS FOR FREEDOM, AND MANY OTHERS IN DOWNTOWN PORTLAND…one of the
most liberal areas on the West Coast. There will be speakers exercising
their free speech, live music, flags, and an uplifting experience to
bring back strength and courage to those who believe in freedom.
Thank you Trump for all you have done.
WHY WE ARE GOING:
The Patriots Prayer crew and their allies from OR and WA came down to
Berkeley TWICE to help us with security there. We need to do them a
solid, in return, by going to help them this Sunday, in Portland.
Therefore, I put out a call to action to our OR, CA, and WA members, and
we have Oath Keepers from all three states who will be there tomorrow
to assist the event organizer with security for the venue, for the
speakers, and for the audience. The event organizer already has a very
competent, squared away security team, and will also have a large
number of patriots attending who are VERY capable of defending
themselves, but we will also be there to lend our expertise and advice
(in particular, our very well trained and experienced police and
military veterans). I am flying into Portland and will be there in
person (I never ask anyone to do anything I am not willing to do
myself). We are also once again flying in some of our most experienced
retired police officers, just as we did twice in Berkeley, CA, and then
in Boston, MA, with spectacular success.
If you somehow missed the email to nearby states, asking for
volunteers, it is still not too late to step up. Just email us at:
Contact email for all volunteers: portland@oathkeepers.org
And then show up. Please let us know you are coming. In addition to
those who can provide effective security, we always welcome medical,
communications, and intelligence personnel. And if you are simply a
concerned American, and want to come support free speech, by all means
show up.
Some of our Berkeley security
volunteers on April 27, 2017. The event went so peacefully we didn’t
get to use those shields. But better to have them and not need them,
than to need them and not have them.
We expect this event in Portland to go as well as the others, and our
purpose, as always, is to lend a hand to be sure it does. The best
outcome is a repeat of the Berkeley, CA rally on April 27, 2017, where
Berkeley PD stepped up with their “A” game and took care of business to
the point that we didn’t have to lay a hand on anyone, and we just had a
great day of speeches in the park, like a “normal” rally (as opposed to
the ridiculous spectacle of people having to fend off masses of masked
attackers just to get a chance to listen to speakers in a public park).
So long as the Portland PD and other state as well as federal LEOs
step up strong and do their jobs tomorrow, the outcome should be like it
was the last time we were in Berkeley. However, as always, we will be
ready, willing, and able to effectively defend the rights of all present
if there is any failure of the police to do so. We DO NOT expect that,
but we are always prepared for anything, as is our duty.
Please wish us luck, and say a prayer for all involved.

PS – Sadly, some of our Oregon leaders got cold feet and were
unwilling to do any security op in Portland. Apparently they have given
up on Portland and think it is OK to consider Portland a “no go” zone
for security operations to protect life and liberty (free speech). I
strongly disagree. Just like in Berkeley, CA, there can be no such
thing as a Marxist dominated “NO free speech” zone in an entire city
inside the U.S, akin to the Muslim extremist no-go zones in Europe,
where non-Muslims dare not go on pain of death. We, as Oath Keepers,
have a duty to step up, as “sheepdogs” and defend people against assault
as they exercise their rights of free speech and assembly. Otherwise,
what is the point of our motto of “Not on Our Watch!” and our byline of
“Guardians of The Republic”?
To be clear, while rank and file members of Oath Keepers are
encouraged to volunteer, I never demand that they must show up. This
is a voluntary association, and therefore I can only ask, strongly
encourage, and then lead by my example. However, those in a leadership
position within a state chapter have the same duty that I do to step up
and lead by
their example. That’s what leaders do. They don’t get to just stay home when duty calls. That’s the price of being a leader.
While concerns about what could happen to our volunteers are certainly understandable, M
ission comes first (defending the Constitution and the rights of the people protected therein).
Then
the men. And then a leader’s concern for himself must come last.
Regardless of the justification, it is entirely wrong and unacceptable
for a leader in this org to stand down and refuse to go into Portland to
protect people who need our help, and request our help, against violent
assault by communist and “anarchist” terrorist thugs who use violence
or the threat of violence to shut down free speech. Again, “Duty is
ours. Results are God’s.’ I believe some of them to be honorable men,
who simply lost sight of the big picture obligation to put mission
first, even in Portland, and I hope they realize their error and step up
to defend the rights of the people of Oregon in every corner of their
state, as is their duty.
Regardless, there are rank-and-file Oath Keepers members from Oregon
who will be showing up tomorrow, along with the ones from California and
Washington State, and out of those Oregon members who show up will come
new leadership.
While violence is always possible, and we encourage you to be ready
in case it does happen, we do think this will go well and we encourage
you to go if you can. It is good for the soul, it is good for
establishing and strengthening bonds of brotherhood, it is good for our
relations with police (showing them who the real enemy is, and who is
really on their side), and it is good for our growth as an org, and our
ability to shape what happens in OR as a whole. We will be working
alongside some very squared away men in the “Peace Keepers” group, and
other patriot organizations and groups, and we will end up forming
strong bonds and ties across groups that will bear great fruit in the
future. I hope to see you there.
