At a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing Wednesday, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) hammered IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for his failure to deliver answers to Congress about the suspicious disappearance of Lois Lerner’s emails. Gowdy warned Commissioner Koskinen, saying “words have consequences.” He pounced on Koskinen for claiming he did not pursue what happened to the lost emails because he didn’t want to interfere with the Inspector General investigation, saying “people cite ongoing IG investigations when it suits them to not cooperate.” Gowdy ended his fierce interrogation by saying he was “stunned” that Koskinen had the gall to bring up the plummeting morale of IRS employees.
