The strain of the campaign in the hours leading up to the New York Republican presidential primary is beginning to show. Especially for Ohio Gov. John Kasich when he was confronted with the question that has dogged him for months — why is he still in a primary contest that he has no chance of winning? He was hit with this once again by Financial Times reporter Demetri Sevastopulo during his appearance at PJ Bernstein’s Deli in New York City Friday. “Listen, at the end of the day I think the Republican Party wants to pick somebody who actually can win in the fall…” Kasich began. It was then that Sevastopulo interrupted and pointed out the obvious. “If you’ve only won Ohio…” he said. “Can I finish?” Kasich snapped. “If you answer the question,” Sevastopulo replied. “I’m answering the question the way I want to answer it,” Kasich said. “You want to answer it?” At that point Kasich grabbed Sevastopulo’s recorder and turned it to the reporter: “What do you think?” “I think you should answer the question,” Sevastopulo said.
