Cue up the Queen song “Another One Bites The Dust”. US Attorney General Eric Holder’s legacy program of supplying firearms to drug cartel killers continues to yield gruesome fruit, as a police chief in the Mexican state of Jalisco was assassinated in his patrol car along with one of his bodyguards. Luis Astorga, police chief of Hostotipaquillo, was shot to death as he was being transported along with his wife and two bodyguards. The vehicle was ambushed, leaving Astorga and one bodyguard dead, and his wife and other guard seriously wounded by gunfire.
The murder weapon, a WASR rifle, was traced back to a gun dealer in Glendale, Arizona, one of those compelled by Holder and the ATF into participating in this insipid and lethal program.
The procurer, one Jacob Montelongo of Phoenix, purchased the murder weapon along with 108 others and spirited them into Mexico. Thanks to this well-conceived and orchestrated ATF “program“, he later pleaded guilty to conspiracy, false statements and smuggling goods from the United States.
For these acts he was given 41 months in prison. In less than four years, he is likely to be back at his old activities, only better-prepared and more efficient. By comparison, Chief Astorga, a courageous man committed to upholding law and order in a region of perilous violence and crime, received a death sentence. His blood, like Brian Terry’s, is on the manicured hands of America’s chief law enforcement officer.
How many more of these atrocities are going to surface before the American people wake up and scream for the impeachment, removal and prosecution of those responsible for this hideous debacle called “Fast and Furious”? Ronald Reagan’s Attorney General, Edwin Meese, spent most of his tenure under investigative pressure by the Democrats, as did George W. Bush’s AG Alberto Gonzales, for nothing more than political reasons. Eric Holder so far is directly responsible for the murders of Border Agent Brian Terry and Chief Luis Astorga, with more certainly to follow. Yet he’s more focused on exonerating the New Black Panthers over voter intimidation and filing injunctions against the state of Florida, prohibiting them from enforcing FEDERAL election law.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about high crimes and misdemeanors, the violation of US Law at the highest levels of law enforcement. What justice is to be had from the Justice Department, when their “field experiments” result directly in the Line of Duty deaths of legitimate law enforcement officers? In case you’re wondering about Astorga‘s character, in Mexico historically only the non-corrupt law enforcement officials are targeted for assassination. Those who commit these killings never target the dirty badges of their enablers.
The real criminals revealed by the “Fast & Furious” gun-walking “experiment” are in the US Justice Department. It’s time to fumigate that filthy house, before more heroes die senselessly in the name of “Justice”.
