As for Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham we the people are growing weary of your continued posturing re: Benghazi ,Fast and Furious as well as confirmation hearings you rant and rave against but in the end always vote in favor of the Obama admin...do you really believe we do not notice this?

As a filibuster showdown mounts in the Senate over the appointment of Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense, Tea Party favorite Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is one guy that walks that walk. He is no RINO. The freshman Senator from Texas got blasted from the Right and the Left during the questioning of the former Republican Senator. Now, you know you are doing something right when you are getting it from both sides.
One of those on the Left that took him on was Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) who, just like a liberal, didn’t name a name when she spoke, but it was clear who she was speaking about, said, “It was really reminiscent of a different time and place, when you said, ‘I have here in my pocket a speech you made on such and such a date,’ and, of course, nothing was in the pocket.” The “bad times” she referenced were the 1950′s when Senator Joseph R. McCarthy was pursuing Communists.
“He basically came out and made the accusation about money from North Korea or money from our enemies, and he just laid out there all of this accusatory verbiage without a shred of evidence,” said Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO). “In this country we had a terrible experience with innuendo and inference when Joe McCarthy hung out in the United States Senate, and I just think we have to be more careful.”
In his first two months in office Cruz has taken on the mayor of Chicago, challenged the Senate’s third-ranking Democrat on national television, voted against virtually everything put before him, even the confirmation of John Kerry as Secretary of State. Additionally, he suggested that Hagel might have received compensation from foreign enemies.
But it hasn’t only been tangles he gotten into from the Left. Those considered to be on the Right, though I would say they can be questioned about that, have also been a bit snippy with the Texas Senator.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that Cruz’s demands of Hagel were “out of bounds, quite frankly.”
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) said, in an interview, “All I can say is that the appropriate way to treat Senator Hagel is to be as tough as you want to be, but don’t be disrespectful or malign his character.”
“Sen. Hagel is an honorable man. He served his country and no one on this committee should impugn his integrity,” McCain added in response to Cruz questioning Hagel’s patriotism.
Anne-Marie Murrell makes a good point when she writes, “What career politicians like McCain and Graham don’t understand is that the days of cushy, carefree, ego-driven political careers are over. It doesn’t matter if a Senator is brand new to the game–We the People expect them to speak out for us, no matter what the rules of hierarchy were before.”
Cruz wasn’t bothered by either side’s views of how he conducts himself. He seems to be a principled man that is taking his oath seriously. In fact, he voiced that in an email, due to that fact that he had contracted laryngitis:
“Comity does not mean avoiding the truth,” he continued. “And it would be wrong to avoid speaking the truth about someone’s record and past policy positions, even if doing so inevitably subjects me to personal criticism from Democrats and the media.”
In a pat on the back, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said, “If you don’t ruffle any feathers, you’re not doing anything right.”
Paul was not the only one to point this out. The former Senator from South Carolina and current President of the Heritage Foundation said, “The last thing we need is another status quo senator or congressman who will go along to get along.”
It’s actually quite refreshing to see a man go to Washington intent on doing what he said he would do and taking his oath seriously. No man is perfect. All men will disappoint us at times, but far too many in Washington who wear the “R” jersey are engaged in disappointing the people they represent far more than they are doing what is right. Ted Cruz has demonstrated he is not a part of that crowd.

“I made promises to the people of Texas that I would come to Washington to shake up the status quo. That is what I intend to do, and it is what I have done in every way possible in the responsibilities that have been granted to me.”Cruz said that his questions were not out of line and requests for financial disclosures from Hagel were supported by 24 other senators. He said, “the suggestions I have made in my arguments have been merely to raise examples for why I believe Senator Hagel’s financial disclosure is so important.”
