Veteran Dem Turns on Obama

House Democratic minority whip Steny Hoyer is one of the longest serving members on the Hill. The Maryland representative has spent his career in Democratic leadership. He's spent almost forty years pushing the priorities of Democratic leadership.

This week, he's decided enough is enough. In the wake of President Obama's decision to throw Israel under the bus by failing to veto a heinous anti-Israel UN resolution, Hoyer issued the following statement:

Notable is that Hoyer does two things here. He admits that this is something that was a major matter of debate "I urged the Administration to veto..." and he acknowledges that Obama's last foreign policy decision "strengthens Israel's enemies."

Why would Obama do something like this? Writing at National Review, Ben Shapiro has an idea:

Here’s the most plausible explanation: Obama despises Israel because at root, Obama despises the traditional Judeo-Christian underpinning of Western civilization. He breaks down Bible believers into two categories: fools and liars. The fools are the “bitter clingers,” the idiot masses who fall into racism and xenophobia and Bible jabber because they’re poor and stupid. The liars are the self-interested characters who want to do what they want to do while citing the Bible for their support.

One thing is clear: Obama is at odds with what used to be the mainstream of his party. He'll ignore the council of more mainstream liberals like Hoyer, and as he exits, he'll be doing everything he can to secure his legacy with the anti-Israel, anti-capitalist, Anti-American goofballs who are the future of the Democratic Party.
