Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has struggled in the image department of the court of public opinion, but is that a rigged court that doesn’t let the truth come through?
A journalist with Independent Journal may have allowed us to see the real Ted Cruz, when the lights are off and no one is looking — and he was spending time with his daughters.
During the last GOP debate, Benny Johnson was rolling video on Cruz with what appeared to be a hand-held device or cellphone. While other candidates were doing last second debate prep, touching up makeup or working the small crowd of supporters in the audience, Cruz was exclusively focused on his daughters.
It’s hard not to see the honesty of purpose in Cruz as he, unbeknownst to him, was filmed. Cruz and family were treating the Fox studio as if it were a living room, not a high tech jungle of wires and platforms.

— Independent Journal (@INJO) March 4, 2016In the studio, which was undoubtedly designed to portray seriousness and professionalism to the viewer but was as phony as the three-walled house of Archie Bunker in “All in the Family,” other candidates were still playing their part while Cruz seemed to transform the studio into the family room of a medium-sized home.

— Independent Journal (@INJO) March 4, 2016Cruz may not give the best performance or produce the correct comeback to a stinging verbal charge at every given opportunity, but his obvious interest in the generation that could end up bankrolling the livelihood of millions who are paid not to work should be an important consideration in the decision-making process for the upcoming Republican primaries.
