oped: Indeed..I must admit I was taken aback with Carly's entrance into the 2016 POTUS race...then logic set in and I researched Carly's past...oh my goodness things are not always what they appear to be in the world of politics....until and if Carly addresses her Gaffs, lack of historical Islam education, a reality grasp on crucial topics/issues... I have no choice but to put her on the backburner of serious candidates!

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina is known for her aggressive views on Iran, as well as her position as the former CEO of Hewlett Packard (HP). But, how many people know that HP products were sold in Iran during her time as CEO, in spite of U.S. sanctions that were in place?
Fiorina stated at a recent GOP debate who she would call on her first day in office, if she became President:
The second (phone call) to the Supreme Leader, to tell him that unless and until he opens every military and every nuclear facility, to real, anytime, anywhere inspections, by our people, not his, we, the United States of America will make it as difficult as possible to move money around the global financial system.Does Fiorina’s record as HP CEO contradict her words?
According to a column by Josh Rogin: “under her leadership, Hewlett-Packard sold hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of products to Iran through a foreign subsidiary, despite strict U.S. export sanctions.”
The Boston Globe first reported in 2008 that HP struck a deal with a new Indian company in Dubai called Redington Gulf. This company sold HP products in Iran, with HP printers becoming the most sold printers in Iran, capturing 41% of the market.
President Bill Clinton signed two executive orders tightening sanctions against Iran in 1995, based on Iran’s support for terrorism and pursuit of weapons of mass destruction.
From 1999-2004, during Fiorina’s time as CEO, the company’s lobbyists consistently sought “unilateral sanctions reform legislation.”
The issue of HP products being sold in Iran was brought up during Fiorina’s 2010 run for a U.S. Senate seat in California. A Fiorina spokesperson denied wrongdoing, stating, “It is illegal for American companies to do business in Iran. To her knowledge, during her tenure, HP never did business in Iran and fully complied with all U.S. sanctions and laws.”
Do you think Fiorina profited from Iran during her tenure? Does this threaten her credibility as a hawk on Iran? Comment and share below.
