Time to Back Up World War II Vets as They Continue to Storm ‘Obama Beach’

In yet another intolerable act, the Obama Administration has ordered the barricades back up at the World War II memorial, even after angry veterans, Oath Keepers, and dedicated citizens tore down the barricades at the World War II memorial on Sunday, and dumped them at the White House gates.
Barriers Back Up on Monday Morning. Some men you just can’t reach … Obama Needs Another Trip to the Woodshed.
Clearly, Obama thinks that what happened over the weekend was a mere
flash in the pan, and now he can get back to his perverse, calculated,
vindictive insult to our WWII veterans, by yet again shutting down
their memorial. We need to prove him wrong.On Sunday, the veterans made sure the Memorial was open to the WWII vets, and many Oath Keepers were there, directly helping. There were no Honor Flights on Monday, and on Tuesday there will be another mass protest by The Military Coalition, so, they have Tuesday covered. But our concern is that on Wednesday, and thereafter, when the crowds and cameras are gone, the barricades will go back up yet again, as they did today. There are Honor Flights scheduled for everyday this week, and those WWII veterans need to be guaranteed access too.
Therefore, starting Wednesday, October 16, Oath Keepers is establishing a rotating “Honor Guard” of volunteer veterans and concerned Americans at the WWII Memorial, to ensure that WWII vets can get in to pay their respects to their fallen brothers in arms. They risked all, in combat, to stop arbitrary, oppressive governments over there. We need to step up and keep them from being victimized by arbitrary, oppressive government here. Let’s get it done!
Oath Keepers will take the first shift of this rotating standing Honor Guard, from dawn to dusk each day, from Wednesday, October 16, through Sunday, October 20. All veterans, and all concerned Americans, are invited to join us in this vigil.
We also call on other veterans groups to commit to taking the next shift, starting Monday morning, October 21, so we can maintain an unbroken Honor Guard, dawn till dusk, for as long as this Shutdown lasts. Please contact us if you are part of a veterans group that can take over on Monday, or thereafter, and please put “Group Volunteering to Take Over Honor Guard,” in subject line.
World War II Airborne combat veteran Warenn (Renn) Bodeker, from Plains, Montana, will be leading the Oath Keepers standing guard Wednesday at the WWII Memorial.
On February 23, 1945, Renn, along with his brother paratroopers of Co. B, 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, parachuted in at dawn’s early light, 40 kilometers behind enemy lines, into the Los Banos prison camp and rescued 2,100 prisoners of war – men, women, and children – from their brutal Imperial Japanese guards, before those guards could slaughter them, as they had planned (read more about Renn, and that daring rescue, here).
Now Renn will be making one last “jump” behind enemy lines, this time into Washington D.C., with bolt-cutters in hand, to make sure his brother WWII veterans can continue to get into their memorial.
Ready to Stand in the Door One Last Time, at Age 90
I will be escorting Renn on this final mission to help liberate the WWII Memorial. I had the honor of escorting him on an Honor Flight to D.C. last year, and Renn understands what those flights mean to the veterans, and he knows first hand the reality that many of his fellow WWII vets on those Honor Flights are in ill health and that for many of them, it will be their last trip, and they will have only that once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the memorials. There will be no do-overs for them, and with approximately 60 WWII vets dying every day, some of them won’t even be around when this damnable shutdown ends. So, the time is now to stand with them, and help them to get into their memorial, and any other veteran’s memorial they want to visit.
As I said the other day, in our previous call to action, you volunteers need to place yourselves under the command of the World War II veterans, and go there to be their “arms and legs” to get done WHATEVER they want done so they can see their memorial. Go with the conviction that you are not under the command of the police, not under the command of the Park Service, and not under the command of Obama. You are under the command of the World War II veterans, and only the World War II veterans.
Don’t try to stop the Park Service employees from putting up the barricades, but when a World War II veteran needs to get in, help them get in just as was done over the weekend
Best Way to Thank a WWII Vet for His Service is to Make Sure He is Treated With Simple Decency and Respect, by Being Able to Visit the Memorial Erected in His Honor, the Politicians be Damned.
We will start first with the World War II memorial, but if we have enough volunteers, we will also post Honor Guards at other memorials, such as the Iwo Jima Memorial (Marine vets are, of course, welcome to put their focus on establishing a Marine vet Honor Guard there, if they want), the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, etc. Please come to the WWII memorial first, if at all possible, to coordinate with us, and to be sure that at least the World War II memorial is open to the WWII vets. Many hands make light work, so please join us in this effort. While veterans have a special obligation to keep the memorials open, you don’t have to be a veteran to volunteer – just a dedicated American who wants to see our WWII veterans respected and honored.
If you are certain that you will be answering the call and will be there, please RSVP below in the comments, letting us know what day or days you can be there, in D.C. to help. Please don’t commit to it unless you are certain you will follow-though, since we will be counting on you.
We know that many people have fallen on hard times, and while willing to go to D.C. to stand guard, they may be financially strapped. So, as part of this effort, Oath Keepers is establishing a special, dedicated fund to help cover volunteer’ travel expenses, with every cent donated going to that purpose only, just as we have done in previous special fundraising campaigns, such as our billboard campaign (which places billboards outside of military bases). So, even if you cannot join us in DC to stand guard over the WWII memorial, please consider making a donation to help others get there.

We are confident that our members and supporters will step up to help out, as they have done in the past, but we don’t know how big the response will be, and therefore cannot promise that every volunteer will be reimbursed for 100% of their travel expenses, but we can promise that whatever funds come in will be used exclusively to reimburse volunteers.
Maryland Oath Keepers Chapter President Bob Shirley will be in charge of distributing the reimbursement funds (most likely in the form of cash). We only ask that volunteers commit to at least one full day of standing guard, and if your travel expenses go over $200.00 we ask that you commit to two days, if at all possible. And volunteers are asked to please bring receipts for travel expenses (gas, food, lodging, airline tickets, etc.) and give them to Bob Shirley or his designated assistants. we MUST have some kind of receipt, or at least a copy, in order to reimburse you.
Once this mission is accomplished, if there are any funds left over in that special fundraising account, those funds will be donated to Honor Flight.
We have a chance to help the World War II veterans continue to set the example for other Americans to follow, to turn the tide and begin the long, hard road of restoring our Republic. They fought, and defeated, the foreign enemies of our Republic. Let’s help them fight the domestic enemies.
