Rep. Gowdy: Get Ready for ‘Explosive’ Benghazi Hearings

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., promised that the House will soon hold a series of “explosive” hearings on the Benghazi terrorist attack, adding the strong hint that the survivors of the attack will add “direct eyewitness” testimony about the conduct of the siege.
“There are more Benghazi hearings coming,” Gowdy told Fox News. “I think they’re going to be explosive.”
When asked to reveal some of the “explosive evidence,” Gowdy demurred, saying that “direct evidence, direct testimony by eyewitnesses is always the most compelling form of testimony and evidence.”
Last week, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee warned the State Department, the CIA, and the Defense Department not to retaliate against whistleblowers.

[R]etaliation against a witness who communicates with the Committee can be considered obstruction of a congressional investigation and is punishable by fine and imprisonment,” the committee wrote in the letters, obtained by Fox News’ Chad Pergram.
Gowdy said that he wants to find out, among other things, “what happened among the siege itself and why aid was not sent.”
Fox News reported last year that the CIA operators in Benghazi were denied reinforcements, but the CIA denies that such a “stand down” order was given.
“There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support,” a senior intelligence official told CNN. The government timeline says that a backup security team arrived at the Benghazi mission within 25 minutes of receiving a call for help at 9:40 pm, adding that a second attack was launched several hours later.
