So, how’s your mental health? Ever feel depressed? Blue? Happy? Angry? Pleased? What!? You’ve felt all those emotions from time to time?! Hmmm. Very Interesting. Sounds like mood swings to me. Probably manic-depressive. Maybe bi-polar? You may be a danger to the state. You may turn violent. In my opinion, you need to be confined to a mental institution. Nurse Ratched, would you please take control of this confused person?
I’m your doctor, and I’m signing the papers. Just slip on this jacket. Yes, it is a straight jacket. Don’t be afraid. We are government reimbursed and we are here to help you. Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes. Mrs. Robinson, you are Koo-Koo-Karazy!
Funny things, mental institutions. There is no set time when you get out like a jail sentence. You stay in until WE decide you are “well enough” to get out. Or you die.

President Obama’s “Executive Action” #16 is to “Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking about guns in their homes” – (take the hint, Doc, all of your reimbursement now comes directly or indirectly from ObamaCare – so you better snoop into the privacy of your patients for Uncle O). Executive Action #14 is “Issue a presidential memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.” Executive Action #23 directs Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan to launch a “national dialogue” on mental health.

Let’s connect the dots. The CDC is to treat gun violence like a communicable disease. Let’s see, guns don’t grow in your body like cancer, so owning a gun must be a . . . wait for it . . . mental disease! Secretary Sebelius is to launch a “national dialogue.” Since this the government speaking, we know the “dialogue” will be a propaganda monologue with only one point of view: convince all Americans that you are mentally ill if you own a gun.
The libertarian psychiatrist Thomas Szaz wrote about how arbitrary and subjective the diagnosis of mental illness can be in his book The Manufacture of Madness: A Comparative Study of the Inquisition and the Mental Health Movement. Medical diagnoses have objectively verifiable symptoms: if you have red dots all over, you have measles. Mental diagnoses are vague, subjective, and often opinion based. Reread the first paragraph.
In one of my favorite Unions, the Soviet Union, political dissidents were often diagnosed as insane by state doctors. After all, you must be crazy if you disagree with Papa Joe Stalin or Uncle Obama. Everything they say makes perfect sense, like spending more money than we have. Then the Soviet Union would lock you away indefinitely in a mental institution. They could even skip the charade of a show trial. All you need is a state doctor to sign the papers.

My fellow Americans, your wings are clipped. Get ready to flutter into the cuckoo’s nest.
