(CNN) - Republican presidential
nominee Mitt Romney on Tuesday issued a paper statement sharply critical
of President Barack Obama over his handling of violence in the Middle
East earlier in the day.
“I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya
and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in
Benghazi," Romney said in the statement. "It's disgraceful that the
Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our
diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the
attacks.” The statement was released by the Romney campaign as the candidate arrived at the Jacksonville, Florida hotel where he is expected to spend the night.
