CA Democrat: Climate Change Will Force Women Into Prostitution

For the third time, California Democrat Barbara Lee has introduced legislation to the House of Representatives insisting that women will be forced into “transactional sex” if something is not done to protect them from the effects of climate change.
In a bill she first proposed in 2009, and then again in 2013, Lee claims that “women will disproportionately face harmful impacts from climate change. Food insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health.”

Her bill – House Concurrent Resolution 29 – urges Congress to use “gender-sensitive frameworks in developing policies to address climate change.”
Of course, Lee’s predictions are just the latest in an unending series of warmist worst-case-scenarios that never seem to materialize. While liberals in the media pound their desks in frustration whenever they are confronted with “deniers,” they seem unwilling to explain why so many of their predictions have failed. We’ve been observing the “settled” climate science long enough to have ample evidence that – more often than not – the warmist crowd is wrong when they make concrete predictions about how global warming is going to destroy the world. Yet we’re expected to greet each new dire warning with unthinking acceptance. Oh, women will be forced into prostitution because of climate change. Yes, yes, that’s definitely true, mmm-hmm. Tell me more, Rep. Lee!

Certainly, there’s no chance that her grim prediction will turn out like the 2005 warnings issued by the United Nations Environment Programme. In their report, the UNEP warned that by 2010, we could expect to see 50 million climate refugees forced to flee their homes in coastal areas, the Caribbean, and the low-lying Pacific Islands. Faced with destructive hurricanes, desertification, and rising sea-levels, these areas would turn into the first ghost-town victims of climate change.
As it turned out, though, most of the places designated by the report have actually increased their populations in the years since. The Bahamas, St. Lucia, the Seychelles, China, and U.S. cities specifically named by the report have all experienced population growth in the intervening years. There have been no climate refugees at all, much less the projected 50 million. But let’s just sweep that prediction under the rug.
What about the Pentagon’s 2003 prediction that climate change was an imminent threat to U.S. national security? In their report, it was envisioned that the world would be a global disaster zone within a decade. There would be very little polar ice left in the summers, natural disasters like hurricanes and tornadoes would increase in both frequency and devastation, California would be flooded with inland seas, and many areas of the Netherlands would be uninhabitable.

When confronted last year on the failed predictions, Pentagon report co-author Doug Randall acted as though it was a silly question to ask. “Whether the actual specifics came true, of course not. That was never the main intent,” he said.
Indeed. Just as the intent of Barbara Lee’s prediction that climate change will force women into prostitution is not to accurately foresee the future. It’s meant to generate fear, garner more money for environmental organizations and the federal government, and take more power out of the hands of the people. In other words, to achieve the same goals liberals always want to achieve.

"....more money for .... the federal government, and take more power out of the hands of the people...."
The People should stop granting power to the diety you call "government" !
Modern tyrants and their enforcers are always outnumbered (and often outgunned) by their victims by a factor of hundreds or thousands. Yet tyrants still maintain power, not because people lack the physical ability to resist, but because through prolonged brainwashing they adopted the belief in “authority”, and as a result lack the mental ability to resist.
As Stephen Biko put it : “The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.”
