Well I watched the Killing of Jesus on the NatGeo channel ...The Passion it was not...The Passion of Christ was a definite A-flick right up there with Moses,Spartacus,The Robe... while the Killing of Jesus was a good documentary it was not a great one...had it been released as a movie it would have been a weak B-flick.
I have to give it a C on the documentary side as it was not any different then the many many documentaries on the life of Jesus released over the decades...it followed the same time and story lines as all the others...nothing new, inspiring ,shocking or chair grabbing!
I also found it a tad bit on the patronizing /PC side when Bill O'reilly, prior to the airing, and during the teaser stage stressed the main Character playing Jesus was a Muslim actor...now why did he find it necessary to stress that? To increase the viewing audience? Probably and a little patronizing to Islam and the Muslim religion !
I found the character playing Jesus to be a good actor but not a great one and not all that convincing however he did look the part as Jesus would have looked during this era minus the long locks...during Jesus time Jewish men sported shorter hair than depicted!
Anywoo...thats my review of the documentary The Killing of Jesus...and I'm sticking to it!
You be the judge:
Bill O' Reilly, author of Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy, declared that Jesus merely started "a philosophy" and much of the biblical narratives are allegorical and symbolic—not real history. He also suggested that Christians do not worship Jesus Christ but worship the "spirit of Jesus." He's convinced that Christ's main undertaking was to teach men how to live.
