While a typical husband might simply grin and bear a less-than-savory meal prepared by his wife, Brooklyn resident Noor Hussain took a decidedly darker approach. When he demanded goat for dinner and his wife informed him she had already prepared lentils, he savagely beat her to death with a stick.
According to court documents, an argument between the two heated up to the point that the “defendant took a wooden stick and hit her with it on the arm and the mouth,” leaving the victim a “bloody mess.”
The septuagenarian is now in court and, according to his attorney, feels he should be excused from the unconscionable behavior.
“He comes from a culture where he thinks this is appropriate conduct,” Julie Clark stated, “where he can hit his wife.”
One wonders how any lawyer – especially a woman – could make such a callous argument; however, she continued by asserting Hussain “culturally believed he had the right to hit his wife and discipline his wife.”
She is recommending he be charged only with manslaughter since he did not mean to kill his 66-year-old wife. The state’s attorney disagrees.
“His intentions were to kill his wife,” Assistant District Attorney Sabeeha Madni asserted, describing how the defendant “burtally attacked his wife as she lay in bed” to the point of a fatal brain hemorrhage.
After what neighbors described as years of abuse, a vegetarian dinner was apparently the trigger that caused the brutal attack that ultimately cost the woman her life. As Madni explained, Hussain’s concern upon killing his wife was cleaning up the mess.
The prosecution revealed that he called his son with a concise message: “I killed her. Hurry up and come over.”
Many who speak out about the possibility of Sharia Law taking root in America are roundly criticized as Islamophobic or a conspiracy theorist; however, the level of systematic physical abuse inflicted by Hussain is now being defended in U.S. courts as a culturally acceptable practice.
