Former Transgender Female: Trump ‘Made The Right Choice’ On Military Ban

"... he made the right decision."

A former transgender female said that regardless of how many people protest President Donald Trump’s decision not to allow transgender adults in the military as unfair to transgender Americans, it is more than fair to America’s military.
Walt Heyer, who runs the website SexChangeRegret.com, said in an op-ed on The Daily Signal that Trump’s critics have “forgotten that our military was forged to be the world’s strongest fighting force, not a government-funded, politically correct, medical sex change clinic for people with gender dysphoria.”
Gender dysphoria is diagnosed by clinicians when someone is battling anxiety and depression. “People are not born that way,” Heyer wrote.

Heyer made it clear he was not evaluating Trump’s proposal at a distance but as someone who understands the issue.
“I think he made the right decision — and as someone who lived as trans-female for several years, I should know,” he wrote.
Heyer received widespread support on Twitter.

Walt Heyer is right. "Our military was forged to be the world’s strongest fighting force," not a sex change clinic. https://www.facebook.com/FranklinGraham/posts/1589872234402285
Hard to argue the common sense rational response of former transgender Walt Heyer. https://twitter.com/AllenWest/status/890297695591694336

Walt Heyer who lived as a transgender female for 8 years says @POTUS did the right thing for the US Military http://www.cnsnews.com/blog/craig-bannister/former-transgender-trump-made-right-decision-military-fighting-force-not-gender#.WXjRz9uThUs.twitter
Heyer said the issue not whether transgender adults have rights, but whether they are the right people to join the armed forces.
“The military is expected to prepare its members in warfare: to kill, destroy, and break our enemies. The most important factors in preparing a strong military are not hormone therapy, surgical sex changes, or politically correct education,” he wrote.
“We need psychologically fit, emotionally sound, highly trained troops to protect our nation from its enemies,” he added.
Heyer said sex-change procedures are cosmetic and that it is “biologically impossible” to change a man into a woman or vice versa. As a result, there are often additional emotional issues that follow, and the military is not the place for that type of counseling.

“Some service members will come to regret having undergone the surgery and will want to detransition. Where will the military be then? Will the military pay for the sex change reversal procedure, too?” he wrote. “Beyond the financial cost, there’s the question of the service member’s military readiness during their transition or detransition, as the process often comes with a great deal of anxiety and emotional instability.”
Heyer said the president’s decision is in the military’s best interests.
“As a person who lived the transgender life for eight years, I can attest that assisting, affirming, or paying for hormone therapies and genital mutilation surgeries would not have strengthened our military. They would only have brought adverse long-term consequences, both for individuals and for our armed forces as a whole,” he added.
