It’s Time for Some Radical Conservatism

We on the right are sick and tired of quiet, measured conservatism. We need a fighter, and this is the sole reason Donald Trump has had so much success in such a short time. 

We’re sick of the Bush’s kinder and gentler, compassionate conservative line-of-crap approach. We want – we need a warrior. Donald Trump has discovered this and has tapped into it. No one else on the right has seemingly figured this out, not even my man Ted Cruz.
There’s only one problem. Yes, Trump is definitely a warrior, but he’s no conservative.
Many on the right (me included) have stated that it’s perfectly reasonable to change one’s mind on any issue, but to do so requires a kind of come-to-Jesus moment, as it were – a reflective or life changing event. I’m not talking about waking up one day to realize you all of a sudden prefer creamy over chunky peanut butter. I’m talking big issues.

Yet regarding something major like immigration, taxes, abortion and support of Democrats, I’ve neither seen nor heard of such events to cause me to believe Trump is the man he says he is, or more to the point, the man people want so desperately to see him as.
As an aside, does this sound familiar? Is this not exactly what we said of Obama – that people just wished him to be, therefore he was?
I’m not here to bash Trump. I actually think he’s doing yeoman’s work driving the issue bus, but we need a firebrand who is a conservative through and through.
Here are just a few of Trumps positions over the years. On "Meet The Press" in 1999, Trump said he was "very pro-choice." "I hate the concept of abortion," he said. "I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. ... but I just believe in choice." He now says: "I'm pro-life and I have been pro-life." Sorry, but you can’t have it both ways, unless you’re a Democrat, like Catholics Nancy Pelosi, and John Kerry, or Mormon Harry Reid.

In his book he wrote that he "generally" opposed gun control but supported an assault weapons ban, yet now he says "the 2nd Amendment will be totally protected."
In an interview with Larry King in 1999, Trump said he was "very liberal when it comes to health care" and that he believes in "universal healthcare." Now he says Obamacare is "a disaster" and said the deductibles were so high they were "virtually useless." He’s only been a Republican since 2009.

This isn’t Trump bashing – they’re just facts, so don’t shoot the messenger. So for each flip flop, I personally would need to know of each event that caused him to so radically change. Not that it’s not possibly – I just haven’t seen evidence of it.
But still, he makes for good TV. He’s saying the right things and is bold. And somehow conservatives appear to put off by this brash self-confidence. Yet that’s exactly what we need to battle the radical left, which at this point is the entire left.
In 2010, Jamie Glazov at FRONTPAGE MAG interviewed Michael Walsh, author of Rules for Radical Conservatives: Beating the Left at Its Own Game to Take Back America, writing under his alter-ego name David Kahane.

During the interview Walsh said, “Like most conservatives, I was tired of seeing the Right get smacked around all the time by the Left, and never fighting back. Politics, especially as practiced by the hard Left since the 1960s, is not a place for turning the other cheek.  The Right foolishly believes that because its principles are better and nobler than those of the Left, it will win in the marketplace of ideas.  The Left, on the other hand, knows that the Right's principles are better and truer, which is why it is always so desperate to discredit them, by any means necessary.”
Is this not how we all have felt for what seems like ever? So what can be done about it?
Walsh says that First and foremost, “the right must have an unshakable belief in the rightness of your position. The Left never compromises, except tactically, and never on principle. Having no sense of shame helps a lot, too. Shame is for chumps.  The right needs to learn to fight the way America fought in World War II, giving no quarter and expecting nothing less than unconditional surrender; after all, that's what the Left explicitly does, and is proud of.”

And that’s been the key, the reason why we on the right find ourselves and our country in this position. We have and continue to buy into, or rather, are sold the lie of compromise – of bipartisanship. It’s Bullcrap! We need a fighter, a general who is willing to lay it on the line and take it to the left – just keep hammering them until they surrender.
