Harry Reid Wants to Cut Off Debate and Push a Quickie Vote on Amnesty This Coming Week.

Center For Individual Freedom

Alert: Now That 30 Republican Betrayers Have Voted to "Debate" The Gang of Eight Amnesty Bill in the Senate, Harry Reid Wants to Cut Off Debate and Push a Quickie Vote on Amnesty This Coming Week.

It was a betrayal. Senate Republicans had the chance to KILL the Gang-of-Eight Amnesty bill by simply rounding up 41 votes against bringing Amnesty to the floor of the Senate... but they didn't.

Instead, these 30 Republican betrayers voted to breathe new life into a massive Amnesty bill they could have killed outright.

To add insult to injury... many of you who have called these 30 betrayers are reporting back to us that they're telling you a half-truth... that they only voted in favor of "debating" Amnesty on the floor of the Senate... and somehow, refusing to kill the Gang of Eight Amnesty scheme should not be construed as support for Amnesty.

And here's the ultimate irony... Harry Reid just announced that he's going to move to cut off debate and force a vote on the Gang’s Amnesty bill as early as this coming week... so much for voting in favor of simply "debating" Amnesty.

Time is short. We can still kill Amnesty, but killing it starts with calling some elected officials on the carpet.

Here Are The Names Of The 30 Betrayers...

Before we name them, let's clear the air. When these 30 Republican Senators voted in favor of "debating" Amnesty, they did so KNOWING FULL WELL that it would be all the more difficult to stop Amnesty by allowing it to hit the floor of a Democrat-controlled Senate.

Don't be fooled by elected officials who tell you they really oppose Amnesty, then vote to give it life. Voting to bring the Gang of Eight bill to the floor of the Senate for debate is support for Amnesty... plain and simple.

Ask yourself... if you opposed something and had the power to kill it, would you vote to kill it or would you vote to give your opposition the opportunity to pass it?

And don't be fooled if they should tell you that Harry Reid tricked them by moving to cut off their precious debate. If they didn't know it would happen, they should have known that it would happen.

       Here are the 30 Republican betrayers: Alexander (R-TN), Ayotte (R-NH), Blunt (R-MO), Burr (R-NC), Chambliss (R-GA), Chiesa (R-NJ), Coats (R-IN), Cochran (R-MS), Coburn (R-OK), Collins (R-ME), Corker (R-TN), Cornyn (R-TX), Fischer (R-NE), Flake (R-AZ), Graham (R-SC), Hatch (R-UT), Heller (R-NV), Hoeven (R-ND), Isakson (R-GA), Johanns (R-NE), Johnson (R-WI), McConnell (R-KY), Moran (R-KS), Murkowski (R-AK), Paul (R-KY), Portman (R-OH), Rubio (R-FL), Thune (R-SD), Toomey (R-PA), Wicker (R-MS).

We must get to them now because when Harry Reid moves to cut off debate, we have yet another opportunity to defeat the Gang of Eight Amnesty bill once and for all… But only if we can get 41 Senators, including many of the Republican betrayers listed above, to vote the right way.

That’s right. Harry Reid is about to give us another bite at the apple because he knows that his chances of passing Amnesty will erode with each passing day; so he wants to pass it quick...

He's taking a risk. He's giving us another chance to win, but this time around we must not allow ourselves to be fooled by Republican Senators who are ALREADY plotting to lose and planning to tell you: "I only voted in favor of cutting off debate and bringing Amnesty to a vote, but after I did, I voted against it."

Remember, it only takes 41 votes to kill Amnesty – and the opportunity to get those 41 votes is once again imminent.

That's why you must make it clear to these Republican Senators that you don't want them to simply vote against Amnesty... you want them to defeat the Gang of Eight Amnesty scheme once and for all.

Republicans Must Hear From You Now Because Too Many Of Them Are Actually Plotting To Lose This Fight.

Think about it. If you were a Republican Senator and you refused to kill Amnesty out of some misguided belief that the legislation should be "debated" on the floor of the Senate; and Harry Reid then moved to cut off your precious debate and force a quickie vote... how would you react?

Any rational person would explode: 'To hell with you Harry Reid, I will not tolerate such shenanigans... your Amnesty bill dies today.'

But some of our Republican leaders are not acting rationally. Instead, they're burning the midnight oil to cut a deal BEFORE a vote on Reid's coming motion to cut off debate can take place.

Politico reports: "Reid urged his colleagues to get in other significant amendments as soon as they can. That includes an effort by Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.) to come to some sort of compromise on border security language with the Gang of Eight."

Politico goes on to report: "Corker said on Monday that the group of senators working on a compromise on border security that could appeal to both Democrats on Republicans is getting close, but wouldn’t tip his hand."

"'There are a number of folks who are working together to try to attempt to get to that place... I think we’re getting close. But again there’s a number of conversations underway and it continues to be slightly fluid..."

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. They're not just trying to cut a deal... they're hustling to cut a deal, which is simply UNACCEPTABLE.

They've lost their way... they're on the wrong track... someone needs to set them straight before it's too late... and that someone is you.

Beware Of Deals, Triggers And Compromises.

What is fueling this Republican betrayal? Opinions abound, but the editors of National Review Online just gave us some food for thought on the matter.

"This bill is in no small part a... product of the media-consultant complex that has convinced Republicans that immigration reform is the key to the Hispanic heart, and that Hispanic votes are the key to winning future presidential elections."

And National Review Online adds that, for Gang of Eight Amnesty supporters, the "play now is clearly to come up with some fig leaf of an amendment on enforcement that won’t affect the fundamentals of the bill [Amnesty], while giving enough Republicans cover to vote for it."

Here's a news flash for our Republican Senators: Hispanics aren't going to vote for you because you helped Democrats grant Amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and the American people already know the "enforcement provisions" that appear in this Amnesty bill are bogus. Stop looking for cover.

National Review Online again: "Most of the so-called security triggers in the bill are paper tigers. The requirement that those applying for amnesty have clean criminal records in fact allows for two misdemeanor convictions and, like most of the triggers, can be waived by the Department of Homeland Security."

National Review Online yet again: "[T]he fines for illegal immigrants contemplated by the Gang of Eight can, under the current bill, be waived by DHS, and the collection of unpaid taxes applies only to levies already assessed by our dear friends at the IRS. The main security provisions of the legislation require only that DHS draw up a plan for security."

Here's the bottom line. Our immigration system is indeed broken. Washington broke it and it can't be fixed by simply allowing politicians in Washington, who are beholden to special interests, to continue breaking it.

Our border is not secure (despite far too many false promises in the past to secure it), millions of people who are playing by the rules and attempting to enter the United States legally are forced to take a back seat, and granting Amnesty to those who have broken the law by coming here illegally will only encourage millions more to do the same.

Senator Ted Cruz had it right when he said: "I think we should all be champions of legal immigrants making the system work and not just welcoming, but celebrating legal immigrants," and that real reform should not be "held hostage to an issue that is deeply divisive... We need to improve legal immigration... we need to streamline it... we need to reduce the bureaucracy... the red tape.. the waiting periods... one of the reasons we see illegal immigration at the levels we do is because our legal immigration system is no working effectively."

We stand with Senator Cruz. We need real immigration reform... compassionate immigration reform... common-sense immigration reform... but real reform will NEVER happen if we allow politicians in Washington to pass this Gang of Eight Scamnesty bill... And the sooner we kill this fraud, the sooner we can enact real immigration reform.
