Oliver North :DON'T LET OBAMA TURN HIS BACK ON OUR TROOPS

OLIVER NORTH WRITES FROM AFGHANISTAN
TROOPS ARE STILL "DETERMINED TO SUCCEED"

Ollie North is one of the most respected journalists and war-correspondents out there. He is one of the few people who has regularly gone out to the far reaches of Afghanistan to report on the good work our troops have done there. He is the type of journalist who is willing to leave the comfort of a well-defended base in order to get the real story.

When our Fox News team left for Afghanistan last week, there was a palpable sense of imminent calamity in the air. Gloom and doom news from here is now a staple in our so-called mainstream media. Reports of “green on blue” or “insider” attacks by our Afghan allies against American and NATO troops are depicted as a sure sign of mission failure, and portent of worse to come. Commentaries, columns and “analysis” from “experts” urging our political and military leaders to “get out now” routinely grace our print and broadcast outlets. The terms “betrayed,” “cut our losses” and “minimize failure” appear regularly in the press and “lost cause” is now the media watchword for Afghanistan.

Defeatism of this sort is nothing new.

According to Ollie North, Obama is pursuing defeatism in Afghanistan, and the media is helping him create the impression that there is nothing left to do but accept defeat and pull out. Our troops feel betrayed by politicians who sent them to Afghanistan with a mission, but won't let them accomplish it!

NORTH SAYS TROOPS STILL WORKING WITH AFGHAN ARMY
REFUSE TO ACCEPT DEFEAT

According to the MSM, green on blue attacks compelled U.S. troops to cease accompanying Afghan security forces on missions and to halt all training. That simply isn’t true.

This column is being written on outposts where we are surrounded and vastly outnumbered by well-armed Afghan soldiers, police, commandos and Special Forces. We have already accompanied them on a half-dozen operations. The distrust and disdain being reported in our media and on various blogs simply isn’t evident.

Our press and politicians may be defeatists, but the young American and Afghan troops we’re with are not. When I asked for a single word to define them, the response was “resilient.”

Our troops don't like this defeatist attitude coming from the President and so many in the media here at home. They want to finish the mission and they have the fortitude and the will to do it - but our politicians have to let them fight without tying their hands, and we have to show our support!
