Ivie, 30, was killed by gunfire Tuesday after
responding to a sensor alarm near Highway 80 about seven miles east if
Bisbee, according to the Border Patrol. One other agent sustained
non-life threatening wounds.
Ivie lived with his wife and their two young daughters in Sierra Vista, Az., where he was involved with the community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
There has been no official confirmation as of Wednesday evening, but there are reports of suspects detained in connection with the death of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie.
A highly-placed source confirmed to our sister-station in Phoenix, KPHO, that two people are being detained in Naco, Mexico in connection with the deadly border shooting Tuesday morning.
The source says confirmation came from the attorney general of Mexico, KPHO said.
There are still no details on when the men were captured or the details surrounding their arrest.
Tucson News Now received this statement as of Thursday afternoon from the Consulate of Mexico in Douglas:
"The Government of Mexico has been in constant communication with its US counterparts since it received notification of the incident where a border patrol agent sadly lost his life, and offered and has been providing all its support in the investigations that are being carried out. Given that there is an ongoing investigation, we have no additional comment at this time".
But, our sister-station states they have received confirmation of the arrests.
Tucson News Now will continue to follow this late breaking story and attempt independent confirmation.
