A Hillary Clinton email Wednesday seeking to quickly raise $2 million from supporters because she might "lose" the Democratic presidential contests in Iowa and New Hampshire "indicates that all hell is breaking loose," political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV.
"For her to be in fact conceding five weeks before that she's going to lose those states, her polling must be disastrous in those states," Morris told "Newsmax Prime" host Ric Blackwell. Iowa holds its caucuses on Feb. 1, while the New Hampshire primary is set for the following week, on Feb. 9. Hillary for America sent the email Wednesday afternoon.
Morris is the co-author of The New York Times best-seller, "Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation."
He told Blackwell that Clinton could come back from losses in those states to her closest challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders, with the South Carolina primary on Feb. 27 because of the state's large African-American vote.
"It's basically an all-black primary, mainly black," he said. "But then in Nevada and some of the other states, she's going to have a tough time.
"I would think that Bernie would be tied with her in the national polling after he won those first two states. And it really indicates that this Democratic primary is going to be highly competitive.
"For Hillary to be hedging her bets like that is crazy — and it also indicates that she got clobbered in that last debate," Morris said. "She should've stayed in the bathroom."
