The town of Cooper-Young, Tennessee has had a tradition almost 20 years which they do in order to show their appreciation for law enforcement officials. As a community, people fill goodie bags with treats and take them to firefighters and police officers who serve the Mid-town area.
Terry Lawrence, a resident of the town, said, “We appreciate the fact that we have men and women out there protecting us every day — so, this gives us one day that we get to take care of them. Some of the volunteers even include their address on the goodies, and usually get a visit from appreciated police officers.”
June Hurt, Cooper Young Association President. added, “Most of the time we see them, someone’s in a bad mood or something bad has happened — so, we like to have positive interaction with police and firefighters.”
