According to the most recent Gallup polling data available, Barack Obama’s job approval rating has dipped well below the 40 percent mark. Recent results show just 38 percent of respondents approve of his performance, while more than half – 54 percent – disapprove.
I can’t believe his rating is so HIGH! Wake Up America! Obama’s Approval Numbers Come Crashing Down Even Further http://t.co/NvrWpU0rIZ

These results are not just an impediment for Obama but all Democrats as important midterm elections approach, Gallup explains. In Iowa, which will attract increasing attention as the 2016 presidential election approaches, Obama underperforms in comparison to polling nationwide. When Obama’s approval rate was hovering around 43 percent during the first half of this year, his popularity among Iowans was five points lower. Furthermore, Gallup reported, the number of self-identified Republicans in the state has grown from 34 percent to 40 percent since Obama’s election. Nationwide, that percentage has grown just two points. Other polls tell a similar story regarding Obama’s sagging approval rate. Real Clear Politics, which offers an average of several major polls, indicates that the president has an 11 point deficit, with 41.7 percent approving of his job performance and 52.7 percent disapproving.

Gallup’s 54-38 spread is the starkest and is bolstered by identical results found in a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
No poll cited gives Obama’s approval rate an edge. The closest result was found in a Rasmussen Reports poll showing that respondents disapproved of his job performance by a margin of 51 to 47.
Obama’s presence on the campaign trails of fellow Democrats across the country has long been seen as a net negative, prompting many candidates to shun his support. MSNBC cited a number of examples, including Sens. Mark Udall and Mark Begich, who declined appearing with Obama during their respective campaigns.
