Eric Holder’s New Rule Puts Americans in Danger

Obama nd Holder

President Obama and AG Holder, weakening the United States
Eric Holder will expand the “definition of racial profiling to prohibit federal agents from considering religion, national origin, gender and sexual orientation in their investigations, a government official said Wednesday,” according to the NY Times.
Essentially, that eliminates the very effective practice of profiling altogether. He is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
This new rule further weakens law enforcements ability to surveil radical Islam and promotes illegal immigration into this country.
The left has long complained that Muslims are singled out for counterterrorism investigations and Latinos for illegal immigration and they want the rules changed.
It is not clear if the rule will apply to national security, which is of course what the radical Islamists and criminals want. This story just broke yesterday and details have yet to be released.
“Adding religion and national origin is huge,” said Linda Sarsour, advocacy director for the National Network for Arab American Communities. “But if they don’t close the national security loophole, then it’s really irrelevant.”
Ms. Sarsour said she also hoped that Mr. Holder would declare that surveillance, not just traffic stops and arrests, is prohibited based on religion.
The fact is that it is radical Islam and Hispanics who are violating those particular laws in large numbers. They fit the profile. If innocents are being drawn up in these investigations, that has to be controlled but to eliminate this even from consideration will tie the hands of federal agents.

Profiling is being thrown out with the alleged abuses inherent in racial profiling.
The Bush administration banned profiling in 2003, but with two caveats: It did not apply to national security cases, and it covered only race, not religion, ancestry or other factors.
What Holder just did, under the directives of President Obama, is leave federal agents open to lawsuits if they even give an appearance of profiling because of religion, race, or sexual orientation. He has given lawbreakers an open field if they are minorities or radical Islamists.
Federal guidelines can force changes in policies, weakening the US ability to protect itself even further.
When radical Islamists come to visit and raise money in this country, they come to visit other radical Islamists in this country. They are here.
We can all agree that racial profiling out of bigotry is wrong, what we don’t all agree on is that profiling is wrong.
