The Democrat Party has spent years cultivating the myth of Republican Party ties to fascism and authoritarianism. If you spend any time watching MSNBC you get the feeling that some on the left have actually begun to believe that the danger to civil liberties really does come from the right. The constant brow beating of Republicans for our concern over certain social issues has obviously trickled down into the mainstream Democrat pool, as more and more of them pick up the "talking points" of the left. The problem is that most of it is lies…
Let’s use President George W. Bush as an example, shall we?
After the attacks on 9/11 the entire nation was on edge and many of us were out for blood. The President found Osama bin Laden laying low in the country of Afghanistan – a nation that refused to turn the terrorist leader over to us, even though he had just inflicted almost 3,000 death upon our nation. So President Bush invaded. However, President Bush’s brand of conservatism includes nation-building, and his fight was directed at al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He felt that the USA had the responsibility to help pick Afghanistan up off its feet after we steamrolled through the country. And so we stayed – for over a decade.
Next President Bush invaded Iraq, on more concrete evidence than we have for attacking Syria. President Bush also got authorization to attack Iraq (and Afghanistan) from Congress; President Obama seems uninterested in taking that step. Again, the Bush Doctrine kept us “in country” to oversee rebuilding of the political system and infrastructure of the nation.
Throughout the last five years or so of the Bush administration, the anti-war movement was constantly marching. Annoyingly so for many conservatives. They attacked President Bush as a war-monger and war-criminal, they called for his arrest and for him to put an end to his “imperial” Presidency. Thousands marched against President Bush, believing he was some kind of fascist monster who sought world domination.
My, how a few years has revealed the stunning hypocrisy of the left’s anti-war movement. President Obama is on the verge of his 3rd war, readying to attack a nation he has less evidence has committed a crime than President Bush had on Iraq. Have you noticed ANY anti-war rallies, marches or speeches? No? Not even on MSNBC? Here are a few things I have heard from the once anti-war left…
President Obama made a name for himself arguing against the legality and morality of the war in Iraq. Now? Now he is leading us into his 3rd war, and he's not even asking Congress for approval.
John Kerry (who was for it before he was against it) was once against President Reagan’s arming of the Nicaraguan anti-Communist Contra forces because, “America should not subvert its values “by funding terrorism to overthrow governments of other countries”. Yet here he stands, arguing that we should fund and arm the rebels, who have been linked to a known terrorist organization like al-Qaeda, so they can overthrow their government. (Not to mention the illegal funneling of arms to the Syrian rebels through Benghazi – which still isn’t being discussed or answered for.)
Chuck Hagel, the current Secretary of Defense, was beloved by the left for his opposition to the Iraq War and his questioning of the President over Iraq’s Weapons of Mass Destruction. Now Hagel claims (with less proof than CIA Director George Tenet had) that Syria has WMDs and has used them. Ironic.
MSNBC host Toure hated war when Bush was President and drones even more recently… but now? Not so much…
MSNBC host Ed Schultz wonders why these conservatives are so hell bent on going to war in Syria. Um… Ed – you may have missed all the press conferences and articles, but it’s the Democrats and the Obama administration pushing us to war. Just because John McCain and Lindsey Graham are for war in Syria doesn’t mean conservatives are… just ask Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and many others.
How about all those protesters… where’d they go?
They bought into the hype. They have fallen hook, line and sinker for the liberal nonsense that Republicans are pro-war imperialists and the Democrats are anti-war civil libertarians. It’s just not true. The Democrat Party is as tied into the military industrial complex as the Republican Party, and so lines blur on military issues.
President Obama is much more of a threat to our liberty than President Bush ever was. Under Obama the left has allowed the NSA to spy on us for reasons that have nothing to do with terrorism. They have allowed Obama to lead us into more wars than President Bush did. They have given Obama carte blanche to do as he wills on civil liberties and on foreign policy. There is no GATEKEEPER for President Obama, no one watching the castle.
The Democrat voters have fallen under the spell of the Democrat Party and may actually believe the nonsense they’ve been told.
