Is Boehner a slow learner or a traitor?

by: Joseph Farah

A recent story in Politico led with this: “House Republicans have no idea how they’re going to lift the debt ceiling this fall – top aides and lawmakers freely admit it. But Republicans say their best hope is to try to leverage Democrats’ desire to blunt sequester cuts to get something in return for raising the nation’s borrowing limit.”
If you’re like me, you’re asking yourself this question: Why is House Speaker John Boehner having sleepless nights worrying about how he’s going to give Barack Obama just what he needs to continue destroying America – a hike in the debt limit, which is better than a blank check to spend as much money as he likes, all money the U.S. government doesn’t have?
After the 2010 election, it took me about five minutes to realize Republicans in the House had been dealt a winning hand to defund Obamacare and hundreds, maybe thousands, of other worthless, counterproductive and destructive programs like it in one fell swoop – by freezing the debt limit and halting the borrowing-and-spending gravy train immediately.
That’s why I started the “No More Red Ink” campaign to remind Republicans in the House they had the power to return the U.S. to something resembling constitutionally limited government with one negative vote on raising the debt limit.
To date, more than 1.5 million red letters have been delivered to House Republicans who, it would seem, are without excuse as to the simple idea that both houses of Congress must approve a hike in the debt limit before it can be signed by Obama.

Nevertheless, it appears Republican leadership has done everything possible since Boehner became speaker to serve as enablers of Obama’s war on the Constitution, America’s prosperity and our way of life.
I guess it’s going to take a few million more letters, generated by you, to awaken them from their Democrat-accommodationist policies. I urge you to join the one and only campaign of its kind that can literally change the direction of America with only Republican votes!
But I suspect the Politico article is exactly right. As of now, Boehner and his misguided leadership are trying to figure out how they can give Obama what he wants. That’s what I hear from my own disgruntled sources among the majority Republican House. They tell me it’s even worse than I know!
I have no doubts.
Because of Boehner wanted to stifle Obama, there’s a simple way to do it.
In the past, Obama, like a spoiled child, has simply threatened to stop paying U.S. military personnel, refuse to send out Social Security checks, default on its obligations to service the enormous debt he and his enablers have permitted to be racked up and shut down the government if he doesn’t get everything he wants.

With that in mind, Republican House members should pass a continuing resolution to ensure that the U.S. military is paid, Social Security checks be issued and debt obligations be met in the event of a stalemate on a debt increase.
Any fool knows the card Obama is going to play, but Republicans who control the House have a better hand. They should certainly know by now what is coming. This is the way to trump Obama’s obvious next move – the one to which he predictably resorts in times like this. If Obama still wants to shut down the government, so be it! It will save the taxpayers even more money.
Republicans don’t need to do this secretly. They ought to hold a press conference to announce it. They need to point out that Obama is not an emperor. He’s not a fuhrer. He’s not a dictator. That’s not the kind of government we have in the U.S. And the U.S. is rapidly going broke. If we want to avoid the inevitable fiscal cliff, it’s time to defund Obamacare, an increasingly unpopular program. It’s time to cut spending on existing entitlement programs. It’s time to reform Medicare. It’s time to eliminate wasteful, unconstitutional and harmful government programs. It’s time to return to the principle of limited government.
Next year is a midterm election year. If Republicans in the House don’t do something dramatic like this now, they won’t be around after the next election. And they won’t deserve to be.
Do you agree?
If so, join me in turning up the heat on Boehner and his accomplices right now. Sadly, it’s the only game in town. And it may be our last chance to save America from becoming the ObamaNation.
