Dalai Lama Says Europe Has Accepted ‘Too Many Refugees’
The Dalai Lama suggests that the immense flow of indefinitely housed refugees into Europeans countries is a bad idea.
“When we
look into the face of every single refugee, especially the children and
women, we can feel their suffering,” the Tibetan spiritual leader
commented.
“A human
being who is a bit more fortunate has the duty to help them,” he
continued. “On the other hand, there are too many now.” The Daily
reported that he was laughing at the time, aware that his comments would
appear shocking to many. The Dalai Lama went on to say:
“Europe and America Cannot Become Arab Countries.”
“From a
moral point of view too, I think that the refugees should only be
admitted temporarily,” he concluded. “The goal should be that they
return and help rebuild their countries.”
President
Obama cannot be happy about this challenge to his actions. When the
spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism is saying we have overextend our
compassion, you know we have gone too far.
We also
know that Obama respects the spiritual leader and has called him “a
powerful example of what it means to practice compassion” and one who
“inspires us to speak up for the freedom and dignity of all human
beings.”
Should Obama Listen To The Dalai Lama?
