There use to be a time in the good old USA when monopolies were illegal...nowdays not so much...seems our elected officials in Washington DC in both the Senate as well as the House can be bought off by big business to turn a blind eye to illegal activity re: the Monopoly laws...!
I remember when Ma & Pa Bell Kawlifornia and Nevada Bell were a great company dedicated to good service and low prices...then all of a sudden here comes the power house AT & T and through a hostile takeover, killed all Ma and Pa telephonie businesses..and who pray tell benefited, hello our wonderful elected officials with deep pockets...it is quite obvious ... if people paid attention a elected official goes to congress a regular so stated working stiff with your interests at stake man or woman...and after a few years they become millionaires...John Boehner.John McCain and Harry Reid come to mind as well as most others for that matter!
Now you are probably asking why am I bringing this up...? Well today the old adage the hair that broke the proverbial camels back came to the forefront!
Today I received my AT & T home phone billing...it stated last months billing $43.01 payment $43.00 (note: on my check for that payment was $43.01...they only credited 43.00 then hit me up for a $6.50 late charge on .01 cents) Now my check did have $43.01 on it...but they chose to fudge in order to assess a late fee...which is a illegal charge and imho outright theft! However I did call the AT & T Rep..and she removed the $6.50 illegal late charge and apologized...!
I also questioned her as to why I have a long distance charge of $9.86 when I haven't used long distance on my home phone in decades...it is for family connection only...she stated you can remove the charge but if on occasion you dial a long distance number it won't connect...what the hell is up with that?...use to be a time when the long distance charge would be added on occasion to the regular billing!
I'm not happy with AT & T 's dial up internet charges either they keep going up every 6 months or so and they try to get you to upgrade for a lesser amount to high speed...which sucks on AT & T...if ya fall for it as a friend did they raise the 20.95 rate to $65.00 after 12 months then it keeps going up!
All I can advise folks is pay attention to billings on AT & T as well as all other financial and or banking businesses as they all seem to be in on the hostile monopoly takeover! and the only ones who benefit are they and our corrupted elected officials !
