Arpaio-team prosecutor targeted in 'witch hunt'

by: Dave Tombers
A longtime prosecutor who worked in concert with Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose Cold Case Posse found probable cause that Barack Obama’s birth certificate was forged, says he was caught in a “witch hunt” for trying to remove corruption in the county.
A disciplinary panel for the Arizona Bar Association recently ordered the revocation of two attorneys’ law licenses and suspended the license of a third in a case WND first reported last fall. William O’Neill, the state’s presiding disciplinary judge, announced the decision.
Former county prosecutor Andrew Thomas has a deadline Tuesday to say whether he will appeal the decision. An ethics panel found Thomas’ office wrongfully accused three officials of illegal conduct to embarrass them.
Thomas has defended the prosecutions as necessary for rooting out corruption in government.
The allegations included scandal, fraud, payoffs and lavish vacations by county officials.
Thomas told WND, “This has been a massive cover-up and, for me, genuinely a Dreyfus-like injustice.”
WND has learned that as many as 11 county employees have been terminated in recent months for allegedly accepting bribes in a court tower construction scandal – one of the Thomas investigations that was stymied.
WND has also learned that the FDIC recently announced the loss of millions of dollars. There also are allegations that some $5.5 million was linked to county official Don Stapley, the subject of another Thomas investigation that was thwarted.
The October WND report documented the early troubles between then-Maricopa County Attorney Thomas and County Supervisor Stapley.
In 2006, Stapley tried to rein in Thomas’ ability to hire outside counsel for the county, saying Thomas based his “appointments upon who was favorable to him, not necessarily who was best qualified to represent the county.”
According to the complaint, the county board, under Stapley, wanted to oversee attorney selection and even hire outside counsel for the board itself. Thomas let them know on numerous occasions that the actions were illegal.

WND reported earlier on comments from even some of Thomas’ critics.
Said columnist Robert Robb, who has made no display of supporting Thomas, “I have written scathingly about the gross abuse of power by former County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Thomas and Arpaio proclaimed that there was a giant conspiracy involving the county board of supervisors, senior county management and several judges in which the judges agreed to protect county officials against criminal probes in exchange for the county constructing a new office building for the judges.”

Homes abandoned amid riot warnings in Chicago

by: AAron Klein

In a sign of what may be coming, residents of a Chicago condo building located near the site of next month’s NATO summit have been asked to leave for the event or risk being caught in a storm of rioters.

WND first reported in August 2011 that radicals, some with ties to President Obama, were planning to riot during the NATO summit.
FOX Chicago News reported the people living in the 17-floor Library Tower building at 520 South State Street were warned in a letter from condo management that “we are STRONGLY recommending that all residents find places to stay during the conference from May 18 through May 21.”
The letter specifically warned of riots:
“In the event of a riot or the potential of one near the building, all access doors will be locked including the garage door,” the letter continues. “For everyone’s safety, we will be instructing anyone in the building to stay in his or her unit.”
While NATO summits often attract crowds of thousands of protesters, the national Occupy movement may add even more chaos to the expected mass protests.
Chicago will be the first American city other than Washington to host a NATO gathering.
Such meetings have previously drawn mass protests that turned violent.
The 1999 WTO event in Seattle devolved into widespread rioting in which more than 40,000 protesters, some using violent tactics, descended on the city, prompting police to use tear gas and rubber bullets. The clash became known as “The Battle of Seattle.”
Preparing for outbreaks, the Chicago Sun-Times In July 2011 quoted Superintendent of Police Garry McCarthy as saying he was prepping 13,000 officers under his command for mass arrests of protesters.
“We have to train for mass arrests,” McCarthy said. “We have to train 13,000 police officers in arrest procedures and containment procedures. At the same time, we will not stop patrolling the city.”
In response, radical groups held a press conference that month in downtown Chicago demanding permits to march during the world summit in May.

Joe Iosbaker of the United National Antiwar Committee, one of the groups planning protests, warned, “The wars and economic policies of the NATO and G8 nations are not just and will be met by protest.”
Iosbaker is a University of Illinois-Chicago office worker and a union steward for his SEIU local. His home was raided by the FBI last September reportedly as part of a terror probe investigating material support for jihadist groups.
Obama has ties to many of the activists groups being investigated in that FBI probe.
WND reported Iosbaker and his wife, Stephanie Weiner, worked as leaders of the Chicago New Party, a controversial 1990s political party that sought to elect members to public office with the aim of moving the Democratic Party far leftward. The ultimate goal was to form a new political party with a socialist agenda.
WND previously reported on evidence from the New Party’s own newsletters showing Obama was a member of the New Party.
Another group at that press conference planning to protest at the May summits is Code Pink.
Code Pink’s co-founder, Jodie Evans, was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign.
Also planning protests is Tom Burke of the so-called Committee to Stop FBI Repression, which has been leading activism against the FBI’s reported ongoing terror probes of Chicago and Minnesota anti-war groups.
Burke, a former school custodian who is now a stay-at-home father, belongs to the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, a group mentioned in subpoenas and search warrants issued in the same FBI terror probe.
WND reported on Obama’s other ties to the activist groups at the heart of the FBI terror probe, including Hatem Abudayyeh, the executive director of the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN.
WND was first to report that Obama, while serving as a paid director of the far-left nonprofit Chicago Woods Fund, provided two grants to the AAAN.
Obama served at the Woods Fund alongside Weather Underground terrorist-group founder Bill Ayers.
AAAN was founded by a longtime Obama associate, Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi. Khalidi’s wife, Mona, is president of the Arab American Action Network

Campus Christians forced to accept Muslim leaders?

by: Drew Zahn
Christian students at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., are fighting an administration policy that dictates “all comers” be eligible for leadership in student organizations, even if they don’t share the groups’ faith.
In fact, under the policy put into effect earlier this year, campus groups’ leadership requirements can no longer “discriminate” on race, faith, gender or sexual orientation, leading many to question whether men could be elected to lead sororities or Muslims to lead Bible studies.

The Christian Legal Society, or CLS, explains an administration email earlier this week denied an already existing group’s application to keep its recognition because its constitution lists as one of its criteria for officer selection a “personal commitment to Jesus Christ.”
Now 11 religious organizations – including groups like Campus Crusade for Christ and InterVarsity – must decide whether they should continue under the new policy, become “unofficial” organizations or leave campus altogether. Two Catholic organizations have already packed their bags and left.
“By mandating the elimination of a Christian group’s standard of ‘personal commitment to Jesus Christ,’ Vanderbilt requires students to abandon their religious integrity and undermines their religious freedoms,” a CLS statement asserts. “Leadership is crucial to the direction of any organization. Eliminating the requirement of a commitment to Jesus Christ in leaders takes away the group’s ability to effectively fulfill its purpose and continue its ministry. By forcing religious groups to choose between remaining on campus and upholding their religious convictions, the university inhibits the development of a community based on freedom and inclusivity.”
“If we can’t ask our leaders to be religious,” asked Vanderbilt junior Pieter Valk, “what’s the point of our group?”
The video itself can be seen below:

Police-state fears grow in Delaware

by: Jack  Minor

Actor Andy Griffith’s TV character Andy Taylor became famous as the sheriff without a gun, who made arrests and enforced the peace through his courage and firm, but gentle, persuasion. But what would he have done if he hadn’t had the ability to make traffic stops or arrests at all?
That’s just about the situation that has developed in Delaware, where one sheriff is campaigning to restore the authority to his office  he says was granted by the state’s constitution.
The battle now includes the state legislature, where lawmakers are trying to redefine sheriffs so they can serve papers and process administrative work but have no hand in actual law enforcement.
Law enforcement authority, say supporters of a state bill, belongs to state police and city police.
“We are very close to having a police state, because the state police does all of the policing except for the municipalities,” Sheriff Jeff Christopher of Sussex County told WND.
Unlike police chiefs, who are hired by government officials, sheriffs are elected by the people and historically have been recognized as a highest-ranking law enforcement officer in a county.
There have been several threats to the authority of sheriffs recently. In Montana, a proposal would have required all federal law enforcement officers to coordinate any activities in counties with the local sheriff. And in Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio continues to ruffle feathers in Washington with his investigation of whether Barack Obama is perpetrating a fraud on county voters by running for president without being an eligible candidate.
In Maryland, the office of sheriff is a constitutionally created position similar to the secretary of state or attorney general and demands, “The sheriffs shall be conservators of the peace within the counties . . . in which they reside.”
However, over the years the sheriffs in the three counties voluntarily turned over most of the arrest authority to state police.
That was the status quo Jeff Christopher found when he was elected sheriff of Sussex County in 2010. With the support of tea party members he set about to restore the office to its historic position of preeminence in the county.
He explained that prior to his election the departments passed off their duties to the state police, and that was causing concern.

Obama's Lawyer ,Alexandra Hill admitted that the image of Obamas's birth certificate was a forgery..!

"Obama’s lawyer, Alexandra Hill, admitted that the image of Obama’s birth certificate was a forgery and made the absurd claim that, therefore, it cannot be used as evidence to confirm his lack of natural born citizenship status. Therefore, she argued, it is 'irrelevant to his placement on the ballot.'" - Tea Party Tribune
You read that right!  Barack Obama's own attorney actually conceded that his birth certificate is a forgery.

Mario Apuzzo, the attorney representing the parties who are challenging Obama, confirmed the contention with this blow-by-blow:  "I called Brian Wilcox to testify as an internet image expert. Mr. Wilcox was going to testify on how the Obama April 27, 2011, long-form birth certificate has been altered and manipulated either by computer software or by a human or both, producing a forged documents, and that since the image is not reliable, we need to see the original paper version.  Obama's lawyer objected to my proffered testimony [Emphasis Ours]

And what happened next was almost surreal. Apuzzo went on to write that Obama's attorney actually agreed "that both the court and the Secretary of State cannot rely on the internet birth certificate as evidence of Obama’s place of birth."

There can be no denying it, Obama's attorney essentially conceded that Obama's birth certificate is a forgery and then twisted that admission to justify Obama's inclusion on the New Jersey ballot.  To put it in her own words, it's "irrelevant to his placement on the ballot."

It's time to put a stop to this insanity!  Congress can no longer refuse to act. We must make them act right here and right now.

Why We Can’t Trust The GOP To Cut Spending

It’s time we invoke a new rule when discussing the federal budget: don’t focus on spending cuts; focus on limiting the size of government. All too often we get caught up in dollar figures of various government programs and agencies, instead of focusing on their imperative to exist in the first place.
The first step in approaching a spending bill is to determine if the given venture is constitutionally sound. If the answer is no, there’s nothing more to debate. The second step is to determine if that venture, which is constitutionally sound, is helpful or harmful. Needless to say, if it is harmful to the public then it should be scuttled. Finally, once the constitutional rationale and the imperative for the venture are established, we can discuss the funding level of that venture.
The case in point is the Energy-Water appropriations bill, which funds the Department of Energy and parts of the Department of Interior. There is no reason for the DOE to exist. Period. The nuclear program could easily be transferred to another part of the federal government, while we eliminate all of the wasteful programs that have not only failed to increase our energy supply, but encumbered its growth over the past few decades. Now that Republicans have focused so much attention on merely trimming the DOE budget, it turns out that they failed to cut anything!
CQ reports that the Energy-Water bill passed out of the Energy-Water Appropriations subcommittee yesterday by voice vote actually appropriates $32.1 billion, an $88 million increase above fiscal 2012 levels. But here is the most egregious part of the bill:
Frelinghuysen [the subcommittee chairman] said the legislation would provide $1 billion to “strengthen” Energy Department programs focused on determining the causes and impacts of high gas prices in the future, a $36 million boost from current levels. It also would provide $554 million for fossil energy research and development, including a new $25 million shale oil program “to both increase the efficiency and improve the impacts of shale oil recovery,” he said.
So we are giving the DOE $1 billion to focus on determining the causes of high gas prices. Why don’t they look in the mirror! We know why gas prices are high. The American and global economies run on energy, and with demand increasing, we need to increase our supply. The DOE and other branches of government have promoted green energy and have hindered the private sector from developing our resources. That’s why gas prices are high. We don’t need to spend $1 billion to study the issue.

Hmm: Will Mitt Romney Choose Condi Rice as his VP?

Apparently – according to a new CNN/ORC International Poll – more than one-quarter of Republicans and right-leaning independents want Mitt Romney to choose Condoleezza Rice as his running mate.
The poll asked Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP to choose from eight names who could be among the two dozen or so potential running mates that the Romney campaign may be considering as the vice presidential nominee. According to the survey, Condoleezza Rice is on top of the list. Twenty-six percent questioned said they would like to see Rice, who served as national security adviser and later as secretary of state under President George W. Bush, as the Republican vice presidential nominee. In second place in the survey, at 21%, was Rick Santorum, who was Romney’s chief rival for the nomination until early last week, when the former senator from Pennsylvania suspended his campaign for the White House.
