Like I always say, the 2nd Amendment, the provision that gives every American the right to keep and bear arms,
is blind and stupid. In its relentless pimping for the gun industry,
the NRA has unleashed an avalanche of deadly weapons on this gun-crazy
country. Just as protects access to weapons for cops and hunters, it
also protects access to weapons for domestic abusers, mental patients,
jerk-offs on the no-fly list, all-around dim bulbs, and now little
children.
As the father of a sweet, smart
nine-year-old daughter myself, the latest example of gross excess is the
image of that pony-tailed New Jersey girl accidentally killing her gun
range instructor. It is obscene and uncivilized to let a third grader
shoot a fully automatic Uzi machine gun. What was she training
for, revolution? Invasion? Service in the coming post-apocalyptic social
disorder? Stupid, but just another of countless examples of how far
into insanity we have let the gun nuts push us.

For those of you who might have missed it, recently, a 9-year-old girl killed her instructor while firing an Uzi at a gun range in Arizona. This is what Rivera was referencing and responding to.
No matter where you stand on the story of a little girl accidentally killing her instructor, is it really fair to blame the second amendment?
Geraldo is the typical liberal, gun control advocate. His tactics are to take isolated incidences, which in this case could have been bad parenting or simply just an unfortunate accident, depending on your point of view, and turn them into reasons to take America's guns. There is no logic involved. The entire argument is meant to be won on emotion only.
I have never forgiven Fox News for putting this idiot on the air in the first place. America never wanted "fair and balanced" to mean that Fox News would give shows to liberal pundits. Fox News was the balance to the liberal pundits. But I digress…

I actually agree that allowing a 9-year-old, with little to no firearms training, should not be shooting a fully automatic submachine gun is a dumb move for the same reasons I think allowing a 15-year-old with a learner's permit to drive a race car is a bad move.I will take the role of devil's advocate and play Geraldo's game just to showcase the absurdity of it.
However, that doesn't mean I think we need to pass even more laws in this country. Common sense (ACTUAL common sense, not legislated, BScommon sense) could have totally prevented this situation.

But if you think that taking guns is the answer to all of our problems, I would contend that taking your microphone and keyboard away might be a much better start. Maybe your mouth should be sewn shut in the process Geraldo.
Is that the level of inane debate that we must stoop to? It seems like that is the level where liberals want this battle fought. No one seems to understand that the bad guys will always have guns. If you don't believe that, then you probably believe our Southern Border is secure as well.

I support the Constitution. I support the right to bear arms knowing full well that some innocent people will die because of it. It is called dangerous freedom but it is much better than peaceful slavery. Life is dangerous. We can not change that. But as long as the people have the second amendment, at least we can keep the odds somewhat equal. Without a gun, you are simply at the mercy of those who have them. How is that working out for the people in Iraq?
I have a little girl who is nearly nine and there is no way she will be shooting an Uzi anytime soon. But that is my choice and I must accept that parents have the right to raise their kids and Americans have the right to bear arms.
I support the Constitution. I support the right to bear arms knowing full well that some innocent people will die because of it.
