Safe to say Kelly Osbourne wasn't exactly hailing the chief's visit to Los Angeles this week.
The "Fashion Police" star took to Twitter Monday night to express her frustrations at the frenzy caused by President Barack Obama, who arrived earlier in the evening for a two-day fundraising trip. Her temper tantrum struck a nerve throughout social media:
Her tweet triggered dozens of responses, many of which criticized her for putting "president" in quotes and labeled her a whiner for complaining about such first world problems.
Many other tweets contained language that made them inappropriate to reproduce here.
After a whole hour of waiting, Kelly finally made it home and managed to find the silver lining in the moment at hand.
But not before she played the Brit card, writing, "I come from a county of real royals and they don't even pull this ---t for the Queen!"
Kelly wasn't the only one upset by Obama's traffic-snarling visit. Charlie Sheen also got in on the complaining action:
Of course, it all made for great comedic fodder. On "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Monday night, the funnyman joked, "He basically turned the Westside of Los Angeles into the traffic equivalent of the Obamacare website."
Sounds about right.
Amid a flurry of traffic advisories, Obama landed Monday at 5:30 p.m. and was shuttled to the Westside of L.A. for a couple of celeb-filled fundraisers for Democrats running for Congress.
The first was at the home of former L.A. Laker star Earvin "Magic" Johnson and, according to The Wrap, was attended by such celebs as Diane Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Berry Gordy. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi also were there.
The second event was at the home of mogul Haim Saban, and included Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Paul Reiser, and L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Obama spoke for approximately 20 minutes at the former event and 14 minutes at the latter. Tickets to the Monday events reportedly cost up to $16,200 a head.
On Tuesday, Obama began his morning with a fundraiser at the Hancock Park home of "Friends" creator Marta Kauffman. From there, he headed to Glendale to visit with DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg at the studio headquarters, where Obama was set to deliver a speech about the economy to many of Hollywood's biggest media executives and studio chairs. According to Variety, before his speech Obama was lead on a studio tour where he chatted with staffers working on "How to Train Your Dragon 2." He then met with Steven Martin and Jim Parsons, who were recording lines for the film "Home," in which they play aliens.
Los Angeles is Obama's last stop of a West Coast fundraising swing that included visits to Seattle and San Francisco. The trip was originally scheduled for September, but was delayed due to the impending government shutdown and unrest in Syria.
