PALM BEACH, Fla. – The ongoing fallout over a rodeo clown who wore a Barack Obama mask at the Missouri State Fair is “infantile” and only exists because the president is treated as “a god,” says the nation’s top-rated radio voice.
“It is as though President Obama is a messiah or is a god and this little thing that happened at the Missouri State Fair is a defamation, a denunciation, almost a religious sacrilege that took place,” Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday. “This is no different than those countries reacting freakishly when there were cartoons of the prophet Muhammad. That is exactly what this is.”
“He’s the president of the United States! They get made fun of! They get laughed at all the time! Fun is poked at ‘em,” Limbaugh stressed. “I know this happens to be the first African-American one, but that should not insulate this president from standard, ordinary, everyday treatment, analysis, whatever. You know, you people on the left, who the hell do you think you are? You can’t laugh. You can’t take a joke. You can’t take a punch. You can’t take anything.”
As WND reported, the Obama-as-god narrative was evident again this week in a video posted on YouTube in which a young boy appears to be praying to the president.
“Thank you for all the stuff that you helped us with. Thank you for taking the courage and all the responsibility for everything you have done for us. And God has gave you special powers and you are going to handle it just fine,” the boy prays.
“You are good, Barack Obama. You are great,” he concludes, throwing his arms in the air and screaming, “Barack Obama!”
Meanwhile, in the wake of Saturday night’s rodeo incident in Sedalia, Mo., the state fair commission is now forcing all clowns to undergo sensitivity training.
According to the Washington Times, the fair will require that before the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to the director of the Missouri State Fair that they have proof that all officials and subcontractors of the MRCA have successfully participated in sensitivity training.”
“This is like the Chicoms (Chinese Communists) and their re-education camps. And I am not exaggerating,” Limbaugh reacted.
“This wasn’t a sacrilege; it’s a joke, for crying out loud. And presidents are laughed at, and they’re poked fun of. Ask George W. Bush. Ask Ronald Reagan. Ask George H. W. Bush. Ask Clinton, for crying out loud. …
“If I were the president of the United States and this was happening in the country that I was president, I would put a stop to this. This is infantile. This is childish. This is worse than political correctness. It’s almost as though the president of the United States is a religious leader. What took place at the Missouri state fair was with a clown.”
“Everybody knows this is all race. You put Bill Clinton in the White House and put that clown with the Clinton mask on there, and it doesn’t even make the news,” Limbaugh added.
On Monday, Missouri’s fair commission voted to ratify its decision to ban for life the clown who wore the Obama mask.
The public announcer at the rodeo and a second clown sporting a microphone asked whether the crowd wanted to see him get run down by a bull.
Spectators reportedly approved with enthusiasm, but one person in attendance compared it to a Ku Klux Klan rally, claiming his mixed-race family felt threatened.
Published and broadcast reports indicate Mark Ficken, president of the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association and the announcer at the event, resigned from the group due to the controversy.
