Sheriff warning of 2nd American revolution

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is calling proposals to seize firearms unconstitutional and warns of dire consequences if such plans are enacted.

“This is about attacking the Second Amendment, it’s about going after the wrong crowd,” the sheriff told listeners to the Alex Jones show.
Clarke blasted gun-control proposals triggered by presidential executive orders and said he would not enforce unconstitutional laws.
“First of all, to me that would be an act of tyranny,” he told Jones. ‘So the people in Milwaukee County do not have to worry about me enforcing some sort of order that goes out and collects everybody’s handgun, or rifles, or any kind of firearm and makes them turn them in.
“The reason is I don’t want to get shot, because I believe that if somebody tried to enforce something of that magnitude, you would see the second coming of an American Revolution, the likes of which would make the first revolution pale by comparison.”
Clark said attacks on assault rifles miss the target, too.
“This has nothing to do with violence reduction because the type of violence that we’re talking about, that I see on the streets in the Milwaukee area on a daily basis, is not even committed using the weapons that the left is trying to ban.

“They are not using assault rifles, they are not using high capacity magazines, they are not buying their ammo over the Internet. The criminals couldn’t care less about a background check, so that tells me that this is [dis]ingenuous,” he said.
He identified the real problem as the criminals.

“If they were serious about violence reduction, they would get behind me… and join me arm in arm in calling for longer periods of incarceration for repeat career criminals who have demonstrated over and over again that they are going to get a handgun, that they are going to get a firearm and perpetrate violence.”
Clarke also said firearms background checks don’t work. He told Jones the gunman in the Sikh temple shooting in his county a few months ago passed such a check.
“My understanding is the creep in Aurora, Colo., who shot up the theater, also passed a background check.”
The sheriff said: “This isn’t about background checks, of which the overwhelming majority of gun transfers go on anyway. This is about attacking the Second Amendment, it’s about going after the wrong crowd.”
Clarke said the Obama administration’s real target is more government control over society.
“Government control cannot go on as long as people have some sort of ability to say ‘hey wait just a doggone minute’,” he said. “That’s what the government fears, they don’t really fear the criminals, they support the criminals. What they fear is a law-abiding person.”
Clarke said people should realize that a gun grab would be unconstitutional.

“Read the Declaration of Independence, it’s right there where a law-abiding people say ‘enough is enough, you are exerting too much influence in our lives, this is tyrannical and we’re going to stop it,’ that’s what they are worried about.”
A sheriff in Texas is also warning that he will not enforce unconstitutional gun laws. The Dallas Libertarian Examiner reports Collin County Sheriff Terry G. Box posted on Facebook, “Neither I nor any of my deputies will participate in the enforcement of laws that violate our precious constitutional rights, including our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”
The National Rifle Association is also trying to convince voters that the administration’s gun proposals miss the mark. The Hill reports the NRA will run four full-page newspaper ads in states where three Democratic senators are up for reelection.
The website says the NRA ads are running in states represented by Sens. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.; Mary Landrieu, D-La.; Kay Hagan, D-N.C.; and Jay Rockefeller, D-W. Va.; who is retiring. An NRA ad also targets a Republican up for reelection, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.
The ads refer to a recent finding by the Justice Department that assault weapons are not a major cause of crime. That report also says an attempted ban on assault weapons would be ineffective. 

The NRA ad says:

Will Obama’s own gun control proposals actually work? His own experts say no.

President Obama’s own experts say that a gun ban like the one he is proposing will not work without being “coupled with a gun buyback.” A mandatory gun buyback is another way of saying ‘confiscation.’

And what about so-called “universal” background checks? Obama’s own experts say their “effectiveness depends on … requiring gun registration.” A mandatory national gun database would be an illegal invasion of privacy unprecedented in our nation’s history.

The Hill also reports the NRA will run online ads in other Republican or swing states where Democratic senators face reelection, including Alaska, Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire and New Mexico.
